After spending most of their lives in Maryland, Bob and his wife, Denise Patterson, moved to the Upstate in 2008, planting roots in the Five Forks area. And while they loved being in the Carolinas, the area where they were living wasn’t quite what they were interested in any longer.
“Where our house was in Five Forks, it became really noisy and busy,” said Bob. “It also became too big for just the two of us and it was a lot of upkeep.”
Bob and Denise were on the lookout for a smaller house in a community that offered more amenities than their current neighborhood. Drawn to the Dan Ryan Builders home styles and layouts, they looked at several different properties in the Upstate. However, there was one neighborhood that stood out above the rest.
“We fell in love with O’Neal Village almost immediately,” said Bob. “The pool is wonderful, the back-roads commute makes everything easier, and nobody can build behind us. Our view is amazing, too. We can see the Greer water tower and the lake.”
Bob is semi-retired and Denise still works full time, so the slower change of pace of O’Neal Village was very much what they were looking for. And being able to sit back and watch the community grow also gets them excited for the future.
“O’Neal Village is such a unique community in that we’re going to have a little bit of a commercial district,” explained Bob. “We already have a pool and gym, pocket parks and a dog park with some of the greenest grass I’ve ever seen. Plus, you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains by going just up the road a little and the two nearby lakes are within five minutes’ drive. What more do you need, really?”
A stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Five Forks, O’Neal Village was definitely an ideal choice for them in both the location as well as the neighborhood itself.
“It’s a whole different vibe,” continued Bob. “It’s a place to recharge, relax, sit on your front porch and actually talk to people. Everyone’s very friendly and down-to-earth.”
If you haven’t already, come explore this little slice of heaven and discover for yourself what everyone keeps talking about. Bob and Denise did — and they couldn’t be happier!
