It’s time to dust off the old and usher in the new in O’Neal Village! Spring cleaning may take some up-front motivation, but once it’s finished, you’ll thank yourself. There are fewer things that are more pleasing than a perfectly clean home. With that, here are some tips that will help you get the most out of your spring cleaning this year:
Make a list.
Make sure you don’t forget things by making a list before you begin to clean. Take a loop around your house and make an action item for every room. For instance, your bathroom may need the shower cleaned, the sink, the floors, the mirror, drawers cleaned out, etc. This way, nothing will slip through the cracks. It may also give you a more realistic idea of how much time your spring cleaning will take this year.
Let Marie Kondo inspire you to de-clutter! Do you really need those jeans that you’re hoping you’ll fit back into? What about that pasta maker that you got for your wedding registry that’s still in its original packaging? Either use it or lose it. It feels good to purge! Then you are left with only the items that make you happy and are truly useful.
Think about things from top to bottom.
It may seem obvious, but in the moment, it can sometimes be easy to forget that cleaning should happen from top to bottom, literally. For instance, in your living room, start by cleaning the fan, then shelves, tabletops and then your floors. Otherwise, dust will just go everywhere.
