Along with Little Me Academy, Haven Ridge Church is a big part of what makes O’Neal Village feel not just like a neighborhood, but a tight-knit community. “The church has been in the community since the early stages of phase one and we’ve always been shown great hospitality,” said Pastor Alan Burchfield. “We have a few families from O’Neal who are faithfully involved with the church.”
Haven Ridge officially launched as a church in the summer of 2014. They host a Sunday morning corporate worship gathering and small groups (called missional communities) who meet in various places at various times throughout the week. Haven Ridge has a children’s ministry that meets during the corporate gathering where children learn the biblical narrative and the necessity of the gospel. There are also a number of ministry teams working to help Haven Ridge run efficiently and to create opportunities for everyone to serve according to their respective giftings. “Our ministry paradigm is ultimately designed to set people up for successful discipleship and spiritual maturation,” said Pastor Burchfield.
“What other developments have a church that gathers inside the neighborhood?” noted Pastor Burchfield. “When there is a strong community within the church, it makes for a much healthier congregation. O’Neal village is a rarity indeed.”
Pastor Burchfield added, “As a church, our desire is to love the community we are in and I believe that to be a good thing for O’Neal Village.”
