The Two-Ingredient Biscuit Recipe

ONeal Biscuit Recipe Pic within BlogIn a recent Garden & Gun article, Sharon Benton, wife of the career cure master Allan Benton, shared the easiest and most delicious biscuit recipe in the world. Literally. It is only two ingredients and would take you a total of 30 minutes (depending on how fast you can fold dough) from start to finish.

This recipe was simply too irresistible not to share with you guys, so here it is, in all of its simplistic glory:

  • 3 cups of self-rising flour
  • 1 ½ cups of high-quality whole buttermilk
  • Melted butter, for topping
  • Coarse salt, for topping (optional)

  • Preheat the oven to 425
  • Add flour to large mixing bowl
  • Make well in center of the flour and pour in buttermilk
  • Mix by moving your open hand along the side of the bowl, folding the flour into the buttermilk (take care not to overwork the dough)
  • Once the mix is a shaggy mass, turn it onto a floured surface and fold until it comes together
  • Make one last fold and punch out rounds using either a biscuit cutter or a glass cup
  • Grease baking sheet with butter and place biscuits on top, almost touching
  • Arrange scraps around sides to get the dough to rise up, not out
  • Brush top with melted butter and bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown on top
  • Remove from oven, brush with more butter and serve immediately

What do you think? Is this recipe as simple and easy as you thought it would be?
